Compatriots of the Tygart Valley Chapter SAR.
Yesterday, Compatriots began receiving a yellow postcard in the postal mail listed as “IMPORTANT MEMBER VERIFICATION NOW DUE”.
There was a mix-up from NSSAR, whereby the state societies and Compatriot membership did not receive prior warning of this recent postcard mailing. The received postcards have created some confusion to Compatriot members which we will endeavor to explain.
The postcard is actually for the publication of an updated SAR Membership Directory, which is published every 4-5 years, and requests you contact them if you need to list any updated membership information and if you would like to purchase the SAR Membership Directory when it is published.
Compatriot members DO NOT have to respond to this postcard mailing, or call the toll free number or give any information.
However, if you are interested in purchasing a copy of the upcoming SAR Membership Directory, we encourage you to participate to the extent that you feel comfortable.
If you have any further questions or need more information, please contact the President or the Secretary/Treasurer of the Tygart Valley Chapter SAR.
NSSAR has finally posted about this subject on the SAR.org website yesterday – December 12, 2018
Member Information Verification for the Directory

Author: Mick Pitzer
Many of you have received an email and/or postcard in the mail over the past several days requesting confirmation of the accuracy of your membership data. This is a legitimate request for information. We are in the process of collecting information for a new, comprehensive Membership Directory. Many of you may remember a directory being published several years ago by Harris Direct. The directory is now published through Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) a Dallas TX based company, who purchased Harris Direct.
The basic details of the project:
1. PCI will contact members to verify information and they can list up to 20 of your ancestors.
2. PCI will also ask you to purchase a copy.
3. The SAR receives a royalty on sales.
The contact number for PCI is 800-213-1020. Please note that the “Your Personal ID#” listed on your postcard will NOT be the same as your National Number. Rather, this is a number PCI is using to quickly find your records in their systems.
If you have any additional questions regarding the collecting/confirming of information, please call the toll-free number listed above.
